Welcome to the monthly CAST Tutorial Series. We will kick this first tutorial off with installing Metasploit and SET on your Apple iDevice, two very powerful open source Hacking tools that every Security Professional loves. The sheer growth and popularity of iPads, iPhones and iPods is overwhelming to say the least. Plus with the recent release of NVidia’s new Dual-Core ARM Cortex A9 CPU, the use of Hacking tools running on these mobile platforms will continue to strengthen a seasoned security professionals arsenal of available weapons, especially since this one can fit in your back pocket.
Metasploit is a free, open source penetration testing framework and solution developed by the open source community and Rapid7. It has become the de-facto standard for Penetration testing with more than one million unique downloads per year, the world’s largest, public database of quality assured exploits. SEThas been specifically designed to perform advanced attacks against the human element. SET was written by David Kennedy (ReL1k) and with a lot of help from the community it has incorporated attacks never before seen in an exploitation toolset.
